| Bill George, formerly CEO of Medtronic and now a Professor of Management Practice at the Harvard Business School, spoke to a crowd of 83 H Club members on March 11, 2008. He drew from his recent best-selling book, TRUE NORTH, to describe the types of leaders that will be needed in the future, and that HBS will need to develop. His well-received presentation served as the club's HBS Centennial Celebration Event, this year being the 100th anniversary of the founding of HBS. |

2007-2008 Membership News
The Harvard Club of Minnesota brings Harvard home to more than 2,800 alums residing in MN– fellowship, connection, stimulating programs and the challenge of service.
In the coming year, for instance, the Club will host at least 20 special events including the annual summer picnic, a variety of Chapter programs, and social activities for all members. And, the Club maintains an active website and email correspondence to keep you in touch.
The Club operates several vital programs like the Business School Chapter; the College Chapter; the Kennedy School Chapter; the Community Partners Program; Prize Books to recognize outstanding high school juniors; Schools and Scholarships Committee; Early College Awareness; and the Harvard Club of Minnesota Foundation to support Harvard students from Minnesota.
Two years ago as the Club celebrated its 125th anniversary, the leadership pledged to adapt and respond to members, which included a dues holiday. At the same time, the Club expanded its programs and services to serve the college and all graduate schools, alums from all schools, and spouses and parents of current students.
As a result, in June, the Club’s board adopted a new membership fee structure for FY 08 – a significant step that enables the Club to support the programs and services members have come to expect. As a member of the Club, you will receive a discount for attendance at programs, timely communications of upcoming activities, access to member only events, and an enhanced website. You can register for events as they become available by clicking on Events on the left hand side of this page.
Regular membership is a modest $40 per year and is tax deductible. Discounted memberships include $20 per year for current students and recent graduates, and $25 per year for spouses and parents. Non-members, including spouses who are non-members, will pay higher fees for most programs.
Please return your check with the membership application located here and contact information or sign-up online by clicking on dues on the left hand side of this page, to enable us to bring Harvard home to you.
You can also make an additional tax free donation to the Harvard Club of Minnesota or the Harvard Club of Minnesota Foundation, if you so desire. Donations are tax deductible as both organizations are 501(c)(3) organizations.
"The mission of the Harvard Club of Minnesota is to build the community of Harvard's University-wide alumni in Minnesota, to assist Harvard applicants and students from Minnesota, and to promote the good will of the University locally.
This mission aims to foster:
fellowship, networking and support among University alumni;
a greater sense of connectedness with Harvard;
services of benefit locally that also serve the University in fulfilling its own mission; and
interviewing and/or support of students applying to, and attending Harvard University, and returning or moving to Minnesota.
The Club's mission is enabled by a Board and Officers representing not only the College but also a broad range of Harvard schools and experiences, who work with the Harvard Alumni Association and all the Harvard Graduate School Alumni Organizations in Cambridge to provide alumni with news, information, events, programs and opportunities to serve. |
