About the Club

The Harvard Club of Minnesota (HCM), with the help and support of the Harvard Alumni Association (HAA) in Cambridge, provides social and intellectual programs of interest to the family of Harvard University alumni/ae in the greater Minnesota area. The club's membership draws from over 2,500 Harvard University alumni/ae in Minnesota, and includes parents of current students at the College.

The HCM gives alumni/ae the opportunity to get involved in the leadership and management of the club, which includes promoting the good will of the University locally and assisting the College Admissions office in making school visits and interviewing applicants to the College. The club's activities extend into various forms of community service as well.

Due to the generosity of its members through the years, the club also maintains a Foundation which provides funds primarily for scholarships and summer community service fellowships for Harvard students each year. (Other uses of funds include special projects such as the recent production of a video on the College in honor of alumnus Don Peddie. That video is used by the Admissions office in its outreach to high schools worldwide and to give prospective students a lively and useful impression of the undergraduate experience as explained by many undergraduates who are featured on the tape.)

The club celebrated its first hundred years in 1980, and is celebrating its 125th Anniversary in 2005. It functioned as the Harvard Club of Minnesota until 1994, when it merged with the Radcliffe Club of Minnesota, at that point it became the Harvard Radcliffe Club of Minnesota. As of 2005, the club returned to its roots and is once again The Harvard Club of Minnesota which includes all Alumni/ae of all the Schools at Harvard University.
